CSAHU Lobbyist Update

Posted: June 29, 2018

The Division of Insurance has issued Draft Emergency Regulations on the ability for brokers / producers to charge a fee on the sale of an individual health benefit plans when the broker / producer is not being paid by the health insurance carrier, per SB18-136.  You can view the draft regulations on the DOI website here.  Please note that comments are due to DOI by today, 5 pm.

CSAHU legislative committee members and lobbyist met with the Interim Commissioner Michael Conway and DOI staff yesterday seeking clarification on the draft regulations and expressing CSAHU’s members desire to charge a fee of their clients on contingent compensation / commission (tiered) plans.  Not all brokers / producers will meet the contingent commission levels and therefore would not get paid for their services.

Please see click here to read the comments that CSAHU submitted to the DOI on behalf of members.
